ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Michelle Spratt
Brought up in Alton, Hampshire, UK – well known for the civil war Battle of Alton 1643 and the murder of Fanny Adams in 1867 – I lived in the same house together with my Mum, Dad, and two brothers until I finished college, aged 18. After studying Retail Management at university and working my weekends on the delicatessen counter in the local supermarket, my first 'proper job' was in the creative world of content marketing at a London-based IT company. I have worked in marketing for 25+ years and have created many successful campaigns for iconic brands, including Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, IBM, and Dell Technologies.
In 2001, right out of the blue, my outgoing, gregarious, young(ish) dad collapsed whilst out washing his car. This was the start of my family’s cruel and devastating journey with Vascular Dementia. He was 59. He was 77 when he died.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Vicky Donoghue
After losing my husband, John, to Vascular Dementia in 2019 I continue to share an extremely close relationship with my three children and their families. “My family are my saviour and mean everything to me and nothing on earth surpasses my endearing love for them all. They have always been ‘there for me’.”
Our goal in sharing our story is to reach anyone needing to feel less alone, and to also support those on the physical and mental changes in Vascular Dementia that are not as readily discussed or understood. Vascular Dementia goes beyond a name or face forgotten; it affects many physical abilities as they observed with their loved one.
ABOUT THE BOOK

This memoir, with its humour and its sense of resilience, aims to provide useful material on the importance of Lasting Power of Attorney, NHS Continuing Care entitlement, safety, and caregiver self-care.
Testimonials
Being a seeker of knowledge, I really enjoyed reading this informative book and do not have any criticisms other than a few grammatical errors. It was extremely accommodating for the authors to include a list of important advice based on their personal experience. The authors are not licensed to give any medical advice and found a way to give readers advice on the issue anyhow. I believe this was a great addition to their book because not many people are prepared when something health concerning happens in their presence.

This is a brave and honest story from the heart. The heartache of daily living with the afflicted patient is bravely shared in an uplifting way. Touches of humour show how their spirits continued to live on with hope and determination to do everything they could in their power to bring some light into this tragedy. They clearly did everything possible to help their husband and father and now it is brave of them to try and help others going through similar struggles. This book will be a comfort, support and guide to many so thank you for sharing your very personal journey .

I only know to well how difficult it is for families to navigate through caring and loving for someone with vascular dementia. When I heard about this book I bought it for my family, it’s being therapeutic in itself to read someone else’s story that also correlates with ours . I really like the practical tips.

I thoroughly loved reading this educational book because I'm a learner, and my only critiques are a few grammar mistakes. The writers' inclusion of a list of crucial tips based on their personal experience was really welcoming. The writers devised a means to provide readers with advise on the subject while not having a licence to provide any medical advice. Because so few individuals are ready when anything health-related occurs in their presence, I think this was a terrific addition to their book.
